Description:
For my postnuke website I need to have my newsletter module updated. The newsletter module gives subscribers several options. For exmaple: - Subscribe txt or html - Subscribe to more than one newsletter - The newsletter generates some content automatically and each subscriber can set the number of automated stories, weblinks, downloads, books, etc.
There are some bugs that need to be fixed and some enhancements need to be made to make it better.
Deliverables: 1) follow as much as possible and necessesary the postnuke API and module development guidelines
2) The newsletter needs to follow as much as possible the theme of the website. That means that in the HTML version the font style needs to be the same. The font size needs to be the same for the complete newsletter etc. May be its possible to have WYSIWYG editor for the fields that are required to edit the newsletter.
3) The module creates the newsletter through the browser. It has the option to see the newsletter before it is send out or to send only a newsletter version to the admin. Formatting of the newsletter changes when you use the see, receive, and send options one after another. For example if you have a in the original text, then after the see option, you have
, if you click then receive you get
and so on. Sending out the newsletter then results in an ugly format with lots of white space.
4) Newsletter counter is reset once somebody makes a change to his/her subscription. This counter counts the number of newsletters a subscriber has received. Currently the counter is reset to zero when somebody makes a change. Of course this should not happen.
5) When the newsletter is send out it is also automatically stored in the stories table of postnuke. The stores have a counter for the number of reads that storie has had. Currently the newsletter is stored without a value for the counter and therefor it never counts. Fix it so that the counter is set to 0 once stored.
6) The TXT setting does not seem to work. When txt is selected it still sends html newsletters
7) In the members section, under the options see, remove the “Name:” label, add the “Newsletters” label, and move the “Adding date:” and “Received mail” label.
8) The newsletter needs to be send out in batches. The server that I am using does not allow a script to run longer than 30 seconds. An admin option needs to be created to set the size of the batch and to either send out each batch manually or automatically.
Platform:
Postnuke 0.7.1.4 running on linux. The software needs to follow as much as possible and necessary the postnuke API and module development guidelines

Hello, Risknowlogy,
I already made 2 projects with postNuke so I know it from within. I may make you demo that allow you send newsletter from your site to any number of subscribers: 1st way - autorefreshing page each 25-28 seconds 2nd - using CRON
(1st simpler but needs your online)
We may negotiate the price if it isn't suitable for you.
Sincerely yours, Yuriy Bukhtiyarov |
