Description:
I need a VB6 program to control behavior in Internet Explorer 5.5 (or newer) and if possible Netscape 6.0 or newer. This may involve registry settings, file access etc.
I would like the final product to be a simple form with checkboxes that turns on or off the following features. It would be optimal if these settings would take effect immediately for any current open browser sessions. If not, it must be tested so the settings are not “wiped out” when the user closes their open browser setting.
It would be ideal that these functions work with both Internet Explorer (IE) 5.5 (and up) and Netscape (6.0 and up) but I&'m most concerned about IE.
IE 5.5 or newer. These are settings in IE in the Tools-Internet Options “Advanced” tab.
1) Turn on/off “Disable script debugging” and “display a notification about every script error”
2) Turn on/off “Play animations in web pages
Both IE5.5 and Netscape 6.0 or newer (most interested in IE)
1) Most Important of this project (MUST BE DONE): disable/re-enable macromedia flash player (registry settings)??? It&'s ok if the user needs to restart their browsers for this feature to work if necessary.
2) Must for both IE and Netscape: Remove browser history, clear cookies, delete temporary internet files (cache) every x minutes (basically access the file system in the correct locations)
3) Toggle on/off JavaScript (for all open browser sessions without browser restart. I'm writing my own program that will use this code. I want to be able to turn on/off javascript based on certain program rules.
I am a VB programmer myself and want to bid this part out. I'll end up taking your final work and adding it to my own program so please keep it concise and commented (if possible ;-)
Deliverables:
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done in Visual Basic 6.0.
2) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
Platform:
All versions of Windows (95 / 98/ NT4sp6/ XP/ 2000/ ME)
IE 5.5 or newer
Netscape 6.0 or newer (if possible) I'm mostly concerned with Internet Explorer.
Must be 100% finished and received by buyer on:

Deadline legal notes: All times are expressed in the time zone of the site EDT (UT - 5). If the buyer omitted a time, then the deadline is 11:59:59 PM EDT on the indicated date.
Special Conditions / Other:
Must be written in VB6
The Internet Explorer part of this code should be done by 10/23/2002
If it can be done for Netscape, that should be done by 10/30/2002

Shall be
user friendly
1. The app shall be a form with checkboxes that turn off features of
the browser
Note: It is not possible to have internet explorer reflect
the changes done by the application to the currently active
Internet Explorer Sessions because the container has to be destroyed
before the new changes can be reloaded.
Hence no changes will be effected till a new browsing session is
opened.
Functions expected:
1. Turn on/off "Display a notification about every script
error"
2. Turn on/off "Play animation in web pages"
3. Turn on/off Macromedia Flash Plugin
4. Remove Browser History every x minutes. - This will be
only possible by having a separate app which runs in the system
background and erases the temporary internet folder occasionally at
the fixed time interval.
This app can be hidden from system tray and shall launch at system
start with windows.
5. Turn on/off Javascript without restarting the browser.
This is very tricky but we have already done it for a client of ours
and works fine too. It does not require a restart of the browser and
also does apply to all active sessions of internet explorer
currently running. |
