Transforming C code into MAPLE or MATLAB #2!!
Bid Request Id: 27912

Description:
I posted this before, but the coder couldn't complete the job. So I am reposting the ad:
I am somewhat good at MAPLE and familiar with MATLAB but never learned C. I need a coder to translate this C code into code that can run on MAPLE v7 and preferably MAPLE v6 *OR* into code that can run on MATLAB... The code is a basic heuristic that can produce a "fitness landscape" a la complexity theory.
I would like to leave N to be inputted by the MAPLE user, and for K to remain manipulable between 1 and (N-1)... Finally, this program would produce a graphical plot of the fitness value. _______________________________________________ Here are comments made by the original C coder:
"The NK-landscape generator consists of a single C file. Note that the generator makes use of routines from the standard math library, and some environments will require that this library be explicitly included when linking. The only two NK-landscape generator routines the user needs to know about are the following:
void initModel(int n, int k, int preload); double evalString(char *string);
The first routine, initModel, initializes the NK-landscape model. This implementation is limited to NK landscapes of N=32 and K=31 or smaller. If the preload option is true, the entire landscape will be constructed during the initialization phase. A preload option of false will cause the landscape to be constructed on the fly. Constructing the landscape on the fly is necessary for large values of N and K due to the memory required to store the entire landscape. The second routine, evalString, evaluates the fitness of a binary string chromosome of length 32 or smaller. A value between 0 and 1 will be returned."
Deliverables: 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
Platform:
I need this C code converted into MAPLE code, preferably runnable on MAPLE v6 as well as v7 (WINDOWS). I would also accept the code if it were programmed to run on MATLAB (preferably v5.3 or older). I want it to stand alone in either of these platforms (i.e. I don't want it to call external software).
Must be 100% finished and received by buyer on:

Hello,
I'm Doyle and I would be interested in doing the conversion. I have experience with Maple version 7 (actually I only have this version available). I will look at the code and send you information on how quickly it should be done. Can't put a bid amount until I see how complex is the code.
Please take my bid into consideration when deciding a bid winner!
Thank you,
Doyle.

Hello,
Just to show you that I'm serious about it, I have sent you a working demo that uses the Maple's 'define_external' to import functions from DLL files. The attached file contains:
- nkLand.dll (exports initModel & evalString)
- test.mws (an example of how to import DLL functions in Maple)
Copy the file to some directory and open test.mws. Modify the path variable so that it points to the dll (use '\\' instead of '\' for backslashes between subdirectories) & execute it.
The sent version of the dll doesn't accept inputs bigger than 2 (n<=2, k<=2). Just tell my if you like the solution I offer you and I'll send you the complete version of the dll.
If you still want a full conversion, I must say that it's not an easy task to do because the algorithm uses a HashTable which is dynamical allocated and I don't think pointers are supported in Maple's programming language.
Hope to hear from you, soon!
