Description:
I need to have some freeware/shareware compilation CD&'s created. I already have a menu system to handle the “front end” menu duties, but need someone to do the following:
1. Browse online freeware/shareware archives and download programs that fit in whatever theme I choose. (e.g. I might ask for a CD full of audio tools)
a. The programs would need to meet specific criteria. (e.g. no time limited trials, or demo versions)
2. Once downloaded, if the program is standalone setup.exe, then no further work would be needed. However, if the program is a .zip file, it would need to be handled in one of two ways: a. If the .zip contains setup files (e.g. setup.exe or install.exe) then you would need to unzip all files, and delete the original .zip.
b. If the .zip does not contain setup files, the .zip would neeed to be converted into a self-extracting zip file.
In other words, for the menu&'s “Install” button to work, I need an executable file to launch.
3. The program&'s name, version number, license type (e.g. freeware), platform compatibility (e.g. 95/98), full description and relative file path would need to be added to a data file (plaintext) which would be used by our menu to launch the file from the CD-ROM.
4. Each program would need to be placed in appropriate sub-categories. For example: if the CD is full of audio tools, you would be responsible for sorting programs into appropriate categories like: mp3 tools, wav editors, etc.
5. Testing with our menu (to check for correct file paths) as a final procedure. We have a simple tool to find errors quickly which you could use.
That&'s about it. Not hard, just a little time consuming. Once all of the data is assembled, it would be uploaded via ftp to our server.
*** IMPORTANT *** 1. Since this job requires a LOT of data moving over the net, only someone with a FAST and STABLE internet connection should bid.
2. Please keep in mind: in the case of a popular program category (e.g. screensavers) a project may involve downloading and sorting hundreds of programs.
3. This job is not a one time thing. If you are fast and reliable, you would get many similar future jobs. Please make all bids keeping our future business together in mind.
4. Thoroughness and attention to detail is a must. There is a lot of freeware and shareware out there. I can direct you to some good archives but each CD should be as full of related programs as possible.
Deliverables: Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
Complete copyrights to all work purchased.
