Description:
Need simple batch program to cleanup date_named files in archive directory on win2k server machine. Batch will run under win2k server scheduled tasks. Can be written in jscript vscript or windows2k native (prefered). Batch will make a recursive examination of base directory and subdirectory and delete all files more than x days old (x to be changeable in batch) as defined by the date_name vs local system date. Details/Options/Purpose follow.
Details: Have dir with a series of Archives downloaded from offsite on a regular basis. Dir tree as follows Backups (base directory) ------------------------ > Grafix > Files > DBase
Within each subdirectory are a number of files named using a unix "date" call with an identifier.
Example: foo_08_23_02.tar.gz bar_08_23_02.tar.gz dbname_07_21_02.sql
Current format is identifier_mm_dd_yy."file extension" Change of order within filename is no problem if it makes the batch easier to write or execute. Because of variable conditions on remote machines file "date/time stamp" CAN NOT be used to verify archive date.
Batch will be run daily and expect to delete all files regardless of "indentifier" or "file extension" if local system date is 30 days past date contained within file name.
Options: Single batch file to run recursive, with (x days old) setable within the batch file as variable.
Purpose: Cleanup of files past "freshness date" without manual examination of files by sysop
Deliverables: Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
Complete copyrights to all work purchased.
Platform:
Win2k Server

Hello mr. ONeill,
I'd like to code this for you. I can assure it will be done a few hours after bid acceptance. The cleaner would be w2k native (an .exe), coded in C++ (source well commented if you feel necessary) and accept 2 command line parameters, respectively the path of the archive dir (so that you can change the parameter if the archive dir is later relocated) and the number of max days old. Please verify my resume and ratings given by other buyers for references on my past work. I will work closely with you to ensure the final product is exactly what you need. Dont hesitate to contact me for any questions you might have, Sérgio Silva |
