Hardware/Software/License Management System
I need a solution for Hardware/Software/License Management System. This system should give a full view of all the hardware and software available on the site.
All computers in the company should be inside of this database (database will be populated manually). The program should deal with two main areas hardware and software.
Hardware:
Each computer should include parts from which it is made (video card, modem etc) including full information on this parts (warranty information, serial number etc) ,I should be able to move parts from one computer to another while keeping the part information (If I will take a video card for example and move it from computer to computer a few times I still want to know where is this card came from and what is his warranty information). Also each computer should include information like owner, physical location, warranty information (When a new PC is added to a database I usually don&'t want to fill warranty information on each part of this PC instead I want to tell what parts included in this PC and then they will automatically get warranty information from the PC), network information (name, IP address etc) etc.
All input to this program should be made according to orders - for example I&'m ordering 3 PC&'s for a company when they arrive I write the order information to the system including full information on this PC&'s and from this moment the system knows everything about this computers and even when I will take a video card and move it to another computer I will still be able to track this card to the original order. It also be an advantage if will not only be able to write the order information to the database but also have a scanned copy of the order itself attached to this order information in the database.
Software:
Again here everything should work by orders, for each new program the company buy the order should be put into the database. This way I will be able to tell at any given time what software we legally have. On the other side I want to include in the information of every PC on the site information about all the software installed on it.
In the end I want to get a report that will compare the software physically installed against the software we bought.
If the software license is time limited (like MSDN for example I also want to know when it will expire)

After reviewing all the offers I got here is the additional requirement for the program:
1. The program should be server/client, the database will be on a server (NT 4.0 server) and the client will access from his PC using a VB program or IE via local Intranet.
2. Database should be Access or any other free system based (Oracle or SQL should not be used because of the license reasons)
3. There should be a rights system using NT authentication or password based (using program&'s internal password system)
4. The program will keep a copy of scanned order/invoice and will be able to show it to a user and/or print it.
5. Developer will provide 3 month of minor program changes and 1 year email support.
Remember that contacting the other party outside of the site (by email, phone, etc.) on all business projects < $500 (before the buyer's money is escrowed) is a violation of both the software buyer and seller agreements.
We monitor all site activity for such violations and can instantly expel transgressers on the spot, so we thank you in advance for your cooperation.

I have been making open-ended databases for years and I have done user interfaces for these types of applications for more than 8 years. I lead a team of professional developers and I have just recently discovered this community. We can professionally do what you need, the way you want it.
We plan to make it in Visual Basic where code maintenance is very easy and development in its most rapid. As for your wish of a server, this bid also would include depending on which you prefer a server-side. If you have licenses to database servers, we would be willing to develop your application in it. We have experience in working with Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server but we are by far known and superior in our open-sourced applications utilization and support. If you have a Linux box, we could easily deploy either MySQL or PostgreSQL to minimize expenses for this application. We can provide support for this setup and be very willing to develop under it. We have developed a number of applications in these configurations and we are very confident that you can get what you want in least time possible.
