Description:
We are using a laser gauge to measure tapered bearing rollers. The operator will place a roller in the gauge and press a GO button on the gauge. The guage will produce a value in ASCII that can be supplied to a computer via a serial connection. We need to sort the value into 12 categories and display the results on the screen. The operator will place another part into the gauge and start the process over.
Deliverables: The operator will need to select the program from the start up Windows screen. The initial screen will say,
1. "Calibrate Master and Press Enter" 2. The computer will not be looking for any value from the gauge. After the operator acknowledges the gauge is mastered by pressing enter, the screen will say,"Place roller in gauge and press GO". 3. The gauge will output an ASCII value to the computer. This value will be sorted into 12 decimal number categories. 4. The display will then read one of 12 messages. Example: -1 LOW,-1 MEDIUM, -1 HIGH, up to +2 HIGH. 5. When the input from the gauge changes, the display will reflect the change. 6. After measureing 50 pieces (changable), the display should say "Calibrate Master and Press Enter", requireing the operator to acknowledge this operation. 7. There should be a button present to end the program.

Hi, I have worked with many serial input devices before so I have experience doing what you need done. Obviously some more information would be needed, but I think this should be a reasonable bid. I can make the program start automatically with windows if you prefer too, if this machine is going to be didcated to this app. Thank you for your consideration. |
