Description:
Florida Citrus Quality Control
The state of Florida exports more than 50% of the world's supply of grapefruit. In an effort to keep their product up to top standards, they have hired you to create a program that will run tests on a given shipment of grapefruit, using sample data. They will supply you with 10 separate data files (each containing 100 records) all containing the same record format. To start, one data file has been included for size 14 fruits. The format is:
tss, ratio, cc
all three fields are single values:
tss = total soluble solids
ratio = minimum ratio
cc = minimum juice requirement
The ten input files are named:
grapefruitDataxx.txt
where xx represents the fruit size of the sample.
Your requirements are:
Produce a pleasing (and creative) user interface that will prompt the user for:
a) an entry for month and day, this will be needed to determine sample criteria
b) a sample number (let them select from 10, 50, 100)
c) a fruit size to sample (this will determine which input file to read from)
d) a button to run the sample
e) a button the clear the report
f) an exit button to end the program
What the program must do:
Your program must get the fruit size to sample from the user and open the correct corresponding file.
Next, get the sample number from the user and read in that number of records (from the top of the file) for each run.
For each record read, your program must determine if that record passes or fails both criteria:
a) the ratio is at least the minimum ratio required for the corresponding tss and
b) the juice requirement is at least the minimum for the size of the grapefruit
Store the results of the test (pass or fail) in an array. If it passes, store "pass" in the array, if it fails, you will store the reason why it failed in an array to be accessed later. It failed because:
tss to ratio imbalance
too little juice
both
When you have finished processing all the records for that sample run, you should print a message to the screen stating whether the sample run passed or failed. It passed if 90% or more of the sampled records passed. You should also produce one written report (output file). This report should allow a user to see the results for all runs until they choose to clear the file and start a new report (remember append vs.
