Description:
UPDATE: This component will not send emails, just retrieve them and parse them for special commands. For example:
Pager generated email replies will have these key items the component will parse- Profit Goal $XXX (items, Profit indicator and Amount) Limit Goal $XXX (items, Limit indicator and Amount) Change Goal to $XXX (items, New Amount) Start With W (items, W indicator) Start With Q (items, Q indicator) Start With E (items, E indicator)
User generated email replies will have these key items the component will parse- WXXXP (items, W indicator, Amount, and Profit indicator) WXXXL (items, W indicator, Amount, and Limit indicator) QXXXP (items, Q indicator, Amount, and Profit indicator) QXXXL (items, Q indicator, Amount, and Limit indicator) EXXXP (items, E indicator, Amount, and Profit indicator) EXXXL (items, E indicator, Amount, and Limit indicator)
Where XXX is a numeric amount from 1-999. These items along with the sender&'s pager address or email address will complete the parse.
This will be an ActiveX Component that will listen for incoming POP email, identify the sender, identify the target message based on predefined key phrases in the body of the email, and trigger an event on completion of a parse, so that a separate receiving process can collect the data.
The component will either accept emails directly or poll a POP server at frequent intervals. Incoming emails will have one of two predefined formats, built-in Pager email replies or a user-structured command. Once an email is parsed and the event fires, a procedure will be called to process the collected data.
This component may run in COM.

Hi,
I already have developed a POP3 OCX control that downloads messages from mail servers. I could easily modify it to fit parce the incoming text for your needs and fire any events you'd like fired. It would probably take less than a day to have it ready! I'd be happy to give you all rights to the OCX that I'd develop for you, but I woudl retain rights to my current POP3 OCX as I use it for several applications, and am sure I'll need to use it in the future. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks for your consideration. Chuck Hall |
