This project needs to be done before July 23. The software will allow users to operate an instrument from a computer, and upload the result via the internet at the end of each day. I can take care of the details of the instrument interface. I would like to find someone who could write code in VB (or callable by VB) to deal with the data and upload the data. The data would involve names, dates, and numerical values. The data would be stored locally on the computer, as well as being uploaded to a host computer. I think a VB structure would work fine. The program would send a comma delimited file to the host computer. At the end of each day, the new data is uploaded using an internet phone-line connection. A dialup account will be created for each system sold. Each system would have a username and password that would be installed prior to distributing the system. A setup program that could take care of installing the passwords would be needed as part of this project. Also the user would have a name and password. The password is stored in a secret file (hidden in the windows directory) which is created when a new user completes the "new user" form (see attached code). The user would have the program upload the data at the end of each day. Also, three types of files would be downloaded at the same time. a. Authorization Code b. New Certificate numbers c. Retired Certificate Numbers A data file named should be maintained that will have presently valid certificate numbers. New Certificate Numbers will be added, and Retired Certificate Numbers will be removed from this data file at download/upload time. The downloaded files would be comma delimited ascii with the first entry the number of data values. The numbers in the data file will be compared with the certificate number entry in the "new entry" form, the new entry must match an entry in the list, or the user will not be able to continue. All data files will be stored in the C:\Windows (C:\WINNT) subdirectory so that most users will not be able to find them or delete them. Attached is some more details. A file called raman.zip is an unfinushed shell of how I imagine the program should work. You can use this or not if you have better ideas.
