Description:
Project Parameters
You have been hired by a company as a new development programmer. This company has recently begun a new project for a company named “Books B Us”. This company has a simple setup now but wants to utilize a computer program to automate their processes. You have been given this project as a starter project. This company sells hardcover books, paperback books, and audio books (which are books that have been recoded to a tape). They sell memberships to their book club, which offers customers an opportunity to receive discounts. They deal with two types of customers; Members and Non-Members. Each customer creates an order when they purchase a product.
You have interviewed with the company and you have collected some additional information as to what specifically needs to be stored in the program.
Deliverables: Project Requirements You will be responsible for creating at least six classes from the information provided above and from the information you have “collected”. These classes must include only one class that contains a main method. The rest of these classes will be used to create and modify objects within the main method. You will be responsible for creating the necessary attributes to store specific pieces of data and all of the standard methods including a constructor for each class. The main method will be used to simulate one complex normal business procedure or at least three simple business procedures. You will start by displaying a menu for the user to select which option they want to work with. You will accept that value and use it to determine what course of action your program will take. Your options might include the normal business operations listed below. You do not have to copy what is listed, feel free to list items your own way. Do not list an action that your program cannot process. Your program will create at least one object of each of the necessary classes and use it correctly. The definition of necessary for this project is simply any class that requires an instance to accomplish the processing that the user has requested to do. In addition to the classes that you have created there are other objects and concepts that I will be looking for: · · Date objects · · Formatted Numerical Values · · Data Validation · · Encapsulation/Data Hiding · · Generalization/Specialization · · Overloading · · Polymorphism · · Exceptions Normal business operations might include: · · Member purchasing a hardcover book. · · Member purchasing a paperback book. · · Member purchasing an audio book. · · Member purchasing multiple items. (*) · · Non-Member purchasing a hardcover book. · · Non-Member purchasing a paperback book. · · Non-Member purchasing an audio book. · · Non-Member purchasing multiple items. (*) · · Multiple Customers purchasing multiple items. (*)
Items to turn in: 1. All of the classes that you have created; FULLY DOCUMENTED with comments. (.java files please)
2. At least a page detailing what your program will do and how.
Note: Cannot not use the GUI Editor.
Platform:
Windows 98 Java (Standard Edition)
