Description:
Here are 3 websites where you can "spy" on searches being conducted right now on these various search engines:
http://www.altavista.com/sites/search/real_searches http://www.metaspy.com/ http://www.kanoodle.com/spy/
Usually, they automatically refresh every n seconds or you have to click an "update" button.
Please look at them before bidding, so you know what I'm talking about.
I would like a desktop (probably VB?) app (not browser-based) that you can leave running and it sucks up all this data and writes it to a logfile on the user's computer.
When the user is done, it spits out the data in a useful form.
Functionality specs:
The app will allow the user to click one, two or all three of these sources to extract data from. Depending on which one(s) they've selected, the app will extract this search data as quickly as it can.
Whether in real-time, or every few seconds, the app will append this incoming data to a logfile on the user's computer.
The app will have a real-time "search-o-meter" that counts the total number of searchterms it has downloaded and stored.
The app has a "Start" and "Stop" button which, obviously starts and stops the data extraction process.
The app has a "Erase Log" button that deletes the contents of the logfile, so that the user can start over with a clean slate. (Please protect this button with an "Are you sure?" warning box.)
Once the user has clicked Stop, a button is enabled called "Analyze". Once that button is clicked, the app sorts all the stored keywords in order of popularity, from the most popular to the search terms that got searched for just once. This table should have alternating background colors, so it's easy to read.
The data would be appear thusly:
hotmail (3,210) yahoo (3,103) britney spears (2,313) etc.
It doesn't have to be overly-fancy, but the nicer it looks, the better.
Please use regular "Microsoft Grey" with standard-looking buttons, checkboxes, textboxes, etc.
Deliverables: Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
Complete copyrights to all work purchased.
Platform:
Windows 9x and later
Must be 100% finished and received by buyer on:
Jul 14, 2002 EDT
Deadline legal notes: All times are expressed in the time zone of the site EDT (UT - 5). If the buyer omitted a time, then the deadline is 11:59:59 PM EDT on the indicated date.
Remember that contacting the other party outside of the site (by email, phone, etc.) on all business projects < $500 (before the buyer's money is escrowed) is a violation of both the software buyer and seller agreements.
We monitor all site activity for such violations and can instantly expel transgressers on the spot, so we thank you in advance for your cooperation.
If you notice a violation please help out the site and report it. Thanks for your help.

I don't quite understand how altavist and kanoodle work. Could you please explain how to get to the actual searched terms on those sites? Altivista just seems to give you a lot of them by clicking on the more button and I can't find how to even get search terms on kanoodle.
Thank's

Ok, I clicked on the wrong button. I can make this program for you and have it done in two days (48 hours) or less. I will make the program in Visual Basic. I guarentee that you will be satisfied with this program when I am finished with it or you do not have to pay for it. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
Thank's for your time and consideration
