Description:
Helo,
I need an applet similar to that found at http://www.cardconnection.com/tango/cardeditor.taf
I need the user to be abe to drag the text, add more text if needed, change the font/color of the text. I also need the applet to take an input parameter and load an image to be the background, and some image the user uploads if they wish to do so.
I NEED the applet to work on Windows/Mac, I tried developing it and the text-dragging works on windows, but it does not work at all on mac, and I'm in a hurry to get this done.
Please contact me if you need more details or think you can do it, also send some samples of your work if you have.
Deliverables: Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
Complete copyrights to all work purchased.
Platform:
All platforms would be ideal, but Windows/Mac are absolutely needed.
Must be 100% finished and received by buyer on:
Jun 20, 2002 EDT
Deadline legal notes: All times are expressed in the time zone of the site EDT (UT - 5). If the buyer omitted a time, then the deadline is 11:59:59 PM EDT on the indicated date.
Special Conditions / Other:
Must be completed by June 20th the latest. Daliy report of work being done desirable.

This sounds like a very creative use for java. I've been programming in java for a little over 5 years now, and I think I would have a lot of fun working on this project.
I have a question about the user definable background image. You said you want a background image uploadable by the user. There's two ways of doing this. The first way is to digitally sign the java applet, so that it can read images straight off their hard drive. This requires the purchase of a digial ID, but the signing process is very easy. The other option is to have support on your server for uploading temporary images. I do not know what type of server this applet will reside on, or what support you have for scripting.
Other than the user uploadable background image, the rest of the project should be a breeze to complete. As soon as you clarify the logistics of the background image, I'll make a bid.

I checked around, and two places to get digital IDs are http://www.verisign.com and http://www.thawte.com, thawte.com being the cheapest at $200 for the first year and $100 for renewal every year after that.
I don't know how you feel about these prices, but just letting the user upload the files is another option. I've only worked a little bit with PHP, but I'm a quick learner and I'm sure I could develop the server end to handle uploads for the applet. Also, if your server supports PERL, that's an option, because one of my roomates is proficient in PERL.
As for the applet itself, I already have the knowledge and experience to build an interactive card builder. I looked at the code you have so far, and it might be that because you are using a Label to display the text that it does not show up correctly on a MAC. That's part of the AWT and it is subject to cross-platform differences in interpretation on how it should be drawn. The best approach is to just write new graphics handlers, then it will look identical on all platforms.
I can start on this project immediately and have basic functionality ready for approval and testing on a MAC in a day or two.
If there's anything else you want to know, please ask.
Sincerely |
