Description:
Yesterday I posted a job for "cracking" a program which I think I would like to use but which the author for some reason stopped all new sales and support for. The original job description is listed below. I gave the job to the cheapest bidder, who looked at the program and wrote me back the following:
Comment:This program are protected for debuggers and part of code are ciphered. I am sorry, but I can't do it. By:BEVsoft Comment Date:5/19/2002 12:25:13 PM
I paid him 20% of what he asked for his time spent on it.
If anyone else wants to give it a try please post your bid and I am more than happy to give you chance at it. If not no big deal.

Hi,
There is an little Windows x86 program I downloaded which I would like to use. The problem is that the company which made program no longer sells or supports the product, so I can't obtain a user name and password by the intended method. I would like someone to crack the program or obtain a working username and password combincation so that I can use the program.
The program is easy to install once downloaded. Upon running the program, it asks for a user name and password. I would guess that anyone with a dissassebler and some experience with cracking would be able to crack the program in a few minutes by changing a few instructions of code (so that, e.g., the algorithm which tests the validity of the usename and password combination is bypassed).

Additional comments: there were actually three programs, all written by the same author using I think the compiler, etc. I would like all 3 "cracked" if possible. Also, the faster you can do it the better --- I will probably select a bidder probably within the next several hours. If you are the low bidder and after messing with the program you feel you can't do it that is cool with me --- just let me know and I will repost the job again. So don't be shy about bidding. But next time I will probably not pay anything unless you actually get the program working or contribute special new information about if it is possible.
Deliverables: Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form.
Platform:
Windows x86 assembly.

Greetings. I have had a lot of sucess in the past with cracking programs and modifying code. I have worked extensively in asembler/op code, c etc. so I am not to worried about what I see. My day job is at NCR where we work on bank machines, main frames etc. This means that not only am I experienced in working with securely encoded programs, transmisions protocals etc but I also have access to some software that very few people have. This may make the job much easier. I am fairly confident that it can be done. It sounds a lot like another project that I did 2 years ago. A company had a kiosk that would display sheet music for sale. The company folded and I managed to unlock the kiosk for free use. The real challenge was that all of the sheet music was encoded with a custom key supplied by the vendor thus ensuring that they got paid every month if you wanted to be able to use the kiosk the next month. Ahh the memories and experience gained.... I would expect to be done in a week or less. If it is really complicated I have a few coworkers that just love a good challenge (and work for free :) ) but that may add a week. |
