Description:
We need an ASP utility that will upload 12 to 15 Paradox ( versions 5 and 8) databases into an MS SQL database. If you can't do it don't bid.
Deliverables: This utility will be run between 2 to 4 times per year. It must be written in ASP and use stored procedures in the SQL database to keep the resources on the client machine Free. The utility must show a progress bar or record count as it steps through the records and give a total at the end. The utility must also allow the user to select the database to Import. about 5 or 6 databases will be completely replacing the current SQL database and the other will Update or add records. There has to be a method to keep track of what records from a database has been updated to added incase the operation did not complete and the user can pick up where it was left off. Also we need a single script or stored procedure that will remove Duplicates records in the SQL database working with 5 different tables.
Special Conditions / Other:

This is not an incredibly difficult task. It can be handled using a variety of methods, all of which involve uploading a copy of the paradox file to the server and working with it from there. At that point a stored procedure on the SQL server can trigger an import function (SQL Server 7 can import data from Paradox 5.X and possibly from 8), or ASP can simply access the paradox data then connect to SQL Server and place the data there. I rather favour the second approach as it is most flexible, allowing the source and the destination to be easily changed. It does take more server resources, but this is not a daily process.
