Description:
Tutor Listing Database
Directory of tutors searchable via a form. Seach fields would include - category (pre-loaded drop down with crtl-click for multiple), company name (partial matching), city (pre loaded from database), area code, and description (keyword/ full text).
It would be good if there were a mechanism for importing existing data - if this adds too much we can type it in.
There would be an admin page (password protected by .htaccess) for adding, deleting, and updating records. The admin page would also have a place to update the name and email address of the admin for email contact regarding info about the database. This could be done via a record in the database for the admin.
If a tutor wanted to initiate an update of thier own info they would click on a small icon, which would be part of search results display for each record, which would load with their info which they edit/update.
The form would be inserted into the database as a temporary record pending approval, and an email would be sent to the admin person in charge of updating the database notifying them an update had been made and is pending approval.
When the admin logs into the admin page they are presented with a list of pending updates and have the option of selecting which updates to approve. The approval process should be such that one click will approve all records marked for approval, the admin shouldn't have to approve them individually.
HTML mockups/formatting for the search page and the resuls page and the admin page will be provided.
It would be good to code the project in such a way that modifiing the HTML formatting is friendly to a non-programmer.
Fields Needed: ================= RECORD ID (unique id for each record)
CATEGORY (there will be about 250 categories - i.e. Alerbra 101, Geometry 215, Biology 302, Physics 340)
IMAGE (this will be for a photo of the tutor, we'll upload the file, this should be auto generated - maybe RECORDID.jpg?)
Company (may not exist for all records) Name (first and last) Street address 1 Street address 2 (may not exist for all records) City State Zip Phone area code Phone number Fax number (may not exist for all records) Email address (may not exist for all record Website url (may not exist for all records) Description (Maybe 300 characters? It would be good if this could be easily modified +/-)

Complete copyrights to all work purchased.
Platform:

Sounds like a fun project! I could do this work for you easily and exactly as you specified. PHP/MySQL is right up my alley. If $100 sounds crazy, we can negociate.
Thanks, hope we can talk soon,
Brad |
