Description:
Program must encode / decode master boot record, partition tables and FAT simply by writing the binary complement of FAT and MBR contents. For decoding / encoding program must check if the signature of the partition table is AA55 (then encode), binary complement (then decode), or none (then do nothing).
Program must be able to be run from a bootable WinXX floppy. The intention is to make HDD unreadable untill decoded by the same program. Encoded HDD must appear as non partitioned.
Program must work with FAT16, FAT32 and NTFS partitions
Program must be a console app.
Expected operation is:
Encoding:
1.- Having a computer with the hard disk loaded with operating system and app´s.
2.- Turn off it.
3.- Insert bootable fdd with the program.
4.- Run program. Program recognizes partition with valid signature and prompts for encoding order.
5.- Program encodes disk

Decoding:
1.- Boot from fdd.
2.- Run program
3.- Program recognizes binary complemented signature.
4.- program prompt´s for decoding.
5.- Program decodes disk.

Over non recognized / never partitioned disk:
1.- Boot from fdd.
2.- Run program
3.- Program checks signature.
4.- program display message "never partitioned or non recognized partition".

This should be a fast/simple project for an experienced coder.
Thanks for your attention.

Deliverables:

Platform:

Must be 100% finished and received by buyer on:
May 4, 2002 EDT

I understand what you want. I've got a lot of experience in creating of console applications working with hard drives (any size). Also, I fix damaged FAT and NTFS partitions using physical disk editors. As you can see I have clean understanding of file systems and MBRs. Also I have already done HDD partitions invisible using ordinary tools (under various OS).
