Description:
Need a webpage, that will reside on a secure website, that will enable users to download and upload files in that particular user's personal directory. FTP transfers will not work since they are not secure. Files must be tranfered using the SSL connection.
Users will login to the website using built in Win2kServer authentication. Based on the username, the webpage will display all files available to download. File list will be obtained by searching for a directory with the same name as the username (these direcories will reside on a file server and accessed thru a LAN as a mapped drive.) The user should be able to select which files to download, from the list, and those file will be dowloaded and deleted from the server.
Users will also need an option to go to a separate page where they will be able to upload files, to the server, still using the SSL connection. They should be able to select multiple files to upload at one time. The files will be uploaded to a server side directory called "upload" within the user's directory (the one with same username as specified above.) This upload directory should not be visible from the download page. (i.e. once a file is uploaded it cannot be downloaded.)
User-side upload/download directories should be specified by the user on a "user settings" page. Settings must be stored on server due to lack of user-side security. A user should not be able to upload or download until these locations are specified. Server side directories locations (for where user-named directories reside) should be editable.
After selecting the appropriate files, on either the upload or download page, these files should be put in a que that should be visible to the user (perhaps a popup window that cannot be closed until all files are transfered.) A confirmation message needs to be displayed for both successful and broken transfers.
Page design is up to coder as well as program/script language as long as they can be run on my server. I need prior notice if any new software will need installed on server. Page design must be user friendly and very intuitive. This will be used by people who are less than computer savvy. Top of page will have company logo and such to be added at a later date by me. Must be IE and Netscape compatible.
Deliverables: Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form (if any needed.)
Complete source/script code that is well commented. Also a short documentation of how the site works and basic setup requirements.
Complete copyrights to all work purchased.
Assistance from the coder to get the initial webpage working will be appreciated. FTP account will be given to coder so website can be tested. Server-side directory paths will be supplied for testing.
Platform:
Windows 2000 Server, IIS 5.0, SSL Connection
Program/script language is negotiable as long as I have the software to run anything new. (i.e. I've never used ASP before, will I need new software to use it?)
Active Perl is already installed on server.
Must be 100% finished and received by buyer on:
Mar 24, 2002 EDT
Deadline legal notes: All times are expressed in the time zone of the site EDT (UT - 5). If the buyer omitted a time, then the deadline is 11:59:59 PM EDT on the indicated date.
Remember that contacting the other party outside of the site (by email, phone, etc.) on all business projects < $500 (before the buyer's money is escrowed) is a violation of both the software buyer and seller agreements.
We monitor all site activity for such violations and can instantly expel transgressers on the spot, so we thank you in advance for your cooperation.
If you notice a violation please help out the site and report it. Thanks for your help.

Hi! I could do this in a couple of days with a series of Perl/CGI scripts. Perl can be an extremely secure language, provided you know how to use things like taint checking to ensure that the data you get from users isn't trusted until it's been stripped of illegal characters (like directory data). Fortunately, my last 'real' job was working for a department of defence contracted company securing existing web-based applications. Look forward to working with you! |
