Completed degree Hardware/Software: 9/1997 - Present Senior Software Systems Engineer, Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) (Contractor), Arlington, VA. · Designed, developed and implemented a high profile, congressionally mandated personnel reporting system which allowed users to track all personnel actions of the Office of the Secretary of Defense in the United States and its territories. This was done to assess all material personnel actions to include vacancy announcements, hiring, personnel transfers, evaluations and terminations. This was a N-tier web front-end programmed in basic ASP and HTML with a Oracle 8i, 9 back-end, with stored procedures written in PL/SQL and COM /DCOM objects written in Visual Basic 6.0. Created numerous large and medium sized Crystal Reports (8.0 and 8.5) from the Oracle backend. Used Visual C++ to create complex COM objects and OO client applications. Used SAP tools to integrate this application with the VISION desktop, a state of the art J2EE application that is the OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY OF DEFENSE standard client workstation, therefore giving me significant J2EE development experience. Also developed an application that kept track of employee's time and created the management reports that were derived from this tool. The Time tracking tool was a N-Tier application with COM/ DCOM objects developed in Visual Basic 6.0, with a SQL Server 2000 back-end, and used Active Data Objects 2.6 to allow the GUI to interact with the database. Provided programming and analysis support to a variety of OSD client projects. Main areas of support revolved around the development of database-driven web applications. Procured, designed and developed the U.S. Army&'s Breast Cancer Research (CDRMP) proposal submission website, to allow paperless submission of research proposals and the evaluation of these proposals by peer review. Created a CRM desktop on the web to provide maximum flexibility. Supported a project with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) for which the OSD provided development support for the National Institutes of Health Web site. Programmed a subsection that allows users to search a database of clinical trials. Also wrote a data-import routine to load the data into a relational database from an ASCII-based file provided to UIS on a periodic basis. This was a N-Tier application using COM/DCOM objects written in Visual Basic 6.0. Used a variety of tools for development tasks including Active Server Pages, Visual Interdev, Java and Java Server Pages, C, MS Access, HTML, Cold Fusion, and other web applications tools. Used PERL to parse large text files to place them on a website. Developed enterprise level Crystal Reports applications for management reporting (Ver. 8.0) Also developed an application that kept track of employee's time and projects of the Office of the Secretary of Defense and created the management reports that were derived from this tool. Tool was developed in Visual FoxPro 6.0, with a SQL Server 2000 back-end, and use Active Data Objects 2.6 and Active X controls for the GUI to interact with the database. Used Visual C++ to create complex COM objects and OO client applications. · Was responsible for the entire Office of the Secretary of Defense&'s efforts related to a smooth transition to the Year 2000 as development lead for Project End Game, a Congressionally mandated reporting system that monitored all Office of the Secretary of Defense facilities to ensure that any problems developed at the century change would be reported. Was the technical lead for this effort and had to manage a team to develop complex applications under non-slip time restraints. Functioned as lead programmer/analyst for a team of eight developers. Designed, developed and implemented a series of distributed applications in Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0, Microsoft Access and Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 that allowed that information to be gathered for the century date change, to include a Web-based front end, for both analysts manning a century date change control center and senior executives of the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Created ORACLE/SQL Server communication tool in C++. Crystal reports 8.0 was the reporting tool for management reports. Prototyped this application in Visual Fox Pro 6.0. My project specification was not met.
I made more than 4/5 attempts to explain the specification to the coder without any progress being made.
The coder did send me a piece of code for sql server management and for this reason only did I set the project as completed and release the $25.00.
