Resume:
My name is Steven Berardi and I have been programming for eight years. I currently reside in the USA, near Chicago.
I recently resigned from a software company, XDE, where I primarily wrote web-based applications in Java and Visual Basic. I worked there for two years.
While working for XDE (http://www.xde.net), I helped develop the following applications:
-Spell Checker: I wrote a spell checker in both Java and Visual Basic. This project required much string parsing, which I feel is my greatest area of strength.
-Translator: I also wrote the translator in both Java and Visual Basic. This is not a versatile translator because it does not account for different forms of a verb, but it still required some work.
-Keyword Generator: The Keyword Generator creates meta tags for websites based on competitor URLs entered by the user. For example, if you are Honda and your site appears after Ford in a search engine, then you can use this program to create a better meta tag moving your site up on the list towards Ford. It will look at the words in a competitor&'s site and use the more descriptive words in the generated meta tag. I wrote this application in Java.
-DataSnag: This component takes a table on a website and converts it into a MS Access database. Later on, I wrote a program that allowed the user to simply double click on any part of a table on a website and then hit a button, and it would copy the entire table into a new MS Access database. I wrote this application in Visual Basic.
-Easy VPN: This program eased the creation of a Virtual Private Network. It allowed multiple users over the Internet to connect to a main server and share files with each other. The program had a simple interface resembling Windows Explorer and it had reliable security. I wrote this program in Visual Basic, but it was never released.
Other Projects Completed (on my own time):
-System Log (VB): keeps track of computer usage time.
-Task Agent (VB)
-Password Generator (VB)
-Mouse Simulator (VB)
-Quick Edit (VB): Word processor (advanced Notepad)
-Tic Tac Toe (C++)
-Java Studio (C++): Source code editor for Java.
-HTML Highlighter (Java): Highlights a query in an html or text document.
I greatly enjoy programming and I feel Object Oriented design is very important when writing code because it allows other programmers/viewers to easily modify my work (if need be) and understand it. I put my deepest thought into each program I write, and I look forward to challenges. Meeting deadlines and keeping good communication is imperative to me because it makes the process go along much more smoothly.
I have experience in the following areas: Visual Basic, C/C++, Java, HTML, Adobe Photoshop.
