Lead developer of a Cocoa based Objective-C OS X application for
music education. The application was based upon an existing application
written for Windows 98. Worked included reading windows application
source code to reproduce code on Mac. The application includes
communication with a MIDI device(s). Also developed a Quicktime Decoder

Gene Codes Corp.
Software Engineer
4/1999 - 10/2000
Gene Codes produces a product named "Sequencher" which is a tool
designed for the bioinformatics market and DNA sequencing. Sequencher
has a rich set of tools and capabilities. Sequencher was primarily
written on the Macintosh platform and then ported to Windows using
Altura's Mac2Win suite of libraries. Responsibilities included defect
fixing, which included correcting some defects that are "historic" in
nature and appear in the product for several years. Added several new
features to the product including the ability to import more types of
files, contextual menu support, Compatibility with Carbon to facilitate
transition to OS X, adding features that would also work on the Windows
platform, and adding features to make Sequencher appear more platform
native on both the Macintosh and Windows. Worked with STL for additional
features.
Environment: C++, STL, TCL, Codewarrior, Visual C++, MacOS
8.5-9.0, SourceSafe

Developed and maintained software on the Macintosh using Symantic
Think C, Metrowerks Codewarrior, MPW, and also utilizing frameworks such
as Think Class Library (TCL), PowerPlant, and a independently developed
application framework. Other development work includes maintenance and
development work using Fortran on a Vax system, interface programming in
4th Dimension, plugin or module work in 4th Dimension, plug ins for
Microsoft Excel, and macro progrmaming in Excel. Projects I have worked
on include:
Network Supervisor An Appletalk network scanning package built on
top of a 4th Dimension database.
Environment: C, Think-C, MacOS 6.0.1 - 7.1
Duration: 2 years
Network Supervisor TE TE A spinoff from the original Network
Supervisor package. This package generates a graphical representation of
all devices on an AppleTalk network. Responsible for identifying and
implementing new features to this package. Led a team of
developers/engineers during part of the product life cycle.
Environment: C, Think-C, MacOS 6.0.1 - 7.1
Duration: 2 years
DataNet This package was originally designed for one specific
client but was then expanded to support the needs of other clients as
well. DataNet is a Database report query/generator. Databases reside on
a VAX mainframe. The user is presented with tools to build a report.
Once the user has chosen their report the report specification is then
uploaded to the VAX where the database system there then processes the
specification. Once the report specification has been completed by the
vax, the results are returned to the package in the form of an Excel
spreadsheet. Later in the project lead two other programmers including
instructing one on the Mac architecture and the Think Class Library
implementation.
Environment: C, Think-C, MacOS 6.0.1 - 7.5
Duration: 2 years
Businessweb A package built on top of a web brower, it's purpose
was to display custom database information in a browser format. The
package was fully cross platform capable and had both a Windows and Mac
version.
Environment: C, Think-C, C++, Codewarrior, MacOS 6.0.1-8.0
