--------Whats New with CyberCrypt Professional 7.0?--------- New advances: |Whats a Swap archive? A Swap archive acts the same as a normal non-compression archive. But what happens is when adding a file, this type of archive splits the file up into smallier pieces and uses less memory. |The Packed and Size properties: If making an non-compression archive the Size and packed propertie value should be the same. When having a compression archive the Size and Packed properties are usually different, this varies because files are compressed into the archive. The Size propertie shows what the original size of the file is outside of the archive. The Packed propertie shows the size of the file while in the archive. |Converting archives? All the converting archive option does is change an archive which has been made in an older version of CyberCrypt and converts into the correct format for the newer versions of CyberCrypt. |Coding Utility? Excellent. However, Creating your own
file extensions should be your goal
now. Add a few more features and you
are well on your way to making this a
commercial program. Excellent stuff.
Well done.

Hey man, this program is 10 times
better then Winzip, Winace, and Winrar
put together. I say definately go out
to the public with this one, but do not
give the code away in the future when
it goes public. Great job.

You should add support for .zip, .rar,
and all those other popular archive
file types. That would make this WAY
better than any other
compression/archiving utility.

I haven't looked at the program yet, so
a few of these ideas might already be
implemented:
Open .zip and .rar
files
save to standard .zip and .rar
files
In my opinion, .ace files aren't
too important to implement because they
aren't as widespread as .zip and .rar.
If you don't know how to do the .zip
and .rar files, there are freely
available dll files you can use that do
the actual (de)compression. If this
program fully supported .zip and .rar
files, I would use it as as replacement
fr winRAR/WinZip. Also *strong*
encryption would be a plus.

This is an absolutly fantastic piece of
software. All I can say is WELL DONE.
If this had support for .zip files I
would ditch winzip and only use this. I
reckon you should go public man. I have
given you a rating of 5 (twice man

If you do go public with this one, and
keep the source closed, you would be
violating all those people whom you
stole code snippits from. Opening the
source is the best way to keep this
project on top. Good work!

It's a good program, but the encryption
is not very powerful. You should work
on that part.

hey im writing an encryption program
and i need to compress / decompress the
files after they have been 'crypted' .
respectively. i used the MOD from your
project and im having some difficulty
with the DecompressFile, it seems when
it gets to ReDim
arrByteArray(lngBufferSize) , i get an
Out Of memory error. I was wondering
how i could fix this.. thankyou.

I would like zip-support. To extract
the information about a file in the
files but not create the files. Only
decompress the data and, if optional,
write it to an output file. I would
need such code. Otherwise I would think
your program is great.
But it needs
support for regular zip-files. And
should be able to create regualar
zip-files.

First I would like to say thank's for
sharing with us your program. I'm
curious, and I had a look at it. I have
to say the code is good (pro), except
the encryption feature... and that's
too bad... a program called Cyber Crypt
(Crypt from Cryptography) do everything
very well except the crypt stuff
:-(
What's wrong with encryption
module?
1. What your program features
is string encryption, but what it
should was file encryption. That's
different.

2. Your string usage (and not bytes
array) is wrong and bugsy. VB cann't
represent all 256 Ascii chars in a
string. Yes, if you try, some chars
will be replaced with spaces. If you
write the ciphertext string into a
binary file and later decrypt, the
output may not be the correct one. If
you dont understand this, you are in
the wrong business writing crypto
software.
3. The key is limited,
probably no user will ever input
anything but letters... this is very
bad! Means that it's millions of times
weaker than expected.
4. RC4 isn't
safe. You need AES, Serpent, Blowfish.

oi debugger... the mans got a good
idea. and he releases newer and newer
versions of cybercrypt all the time. i
know what you mean about key encryption
and i agree that vb cant process some
chars into a string. but thats why we
help eachother. next time in stead of
telling mark whats wrong why dont you
tell him the answer to the problems he
probably already knows about.
nice
code. ive got some of your other stuff

Excellent work, 5 stars here.
With a
little support for common compression
types and a few features of your own,
you should have no problem going
commercial with this software.

This is an excellent program. However,
it violates priavacy rights by adding
registry settings and DLLs to the
system without notifying the user of
either action being taken. I consider
programs that do such things intrusive.
I recommend making those pieces options
which come up on the first run of the
program.

Just a reply to SilverAngel, to say I
know how to do crypto software, and I
can tell you it's not possible to
explain in a few lines on Pscode forum.
The anwsers were there on my first
message, but some cant read: 1) use
bytes arrays NOT strings; 2) hash the
password, DONT take it like that; 3)
use a better algorithm, eg AES, NOT
RC4.
 Dont share craap crypto, and
dont update versions every week. Crypto
programs need to be stable, tested
versions. Ask an expert first to review
your program, then correct the flaws,
and only then publish it on the Net.

ive got a great way to encrypt files.
It called the vigenere Cipher. I made
it into a module. Anyway it was used in
either WWI or WWII to send messages.
But its really good encryption.

Good example but if you were thinking
about selling it then think
again...
The compression is noware
near winzip
and it is slugish with
files under 1mb
so i hate to think
what it would be like with big
files(500-700 mb).
Anyway thatks for
sharing it with us
Good luck

The Program is ok. But - The Debugger -
what you say about Visual Basic
Strings and File I/O is - sorry - a
BULL product...!
VB does NOT replace
any Characters in Strings; but there
are characters,
that can't be
displayed or printed. A tip: Create a
Char-Table and play with
String Ops as
you want, incl. Variants and Text File
I/O....
Dim i%, C As Byte, Tx as
String
For i = 0 To 255
  C =
i 'Integer to Byte
  Tx = Tx & CStr(C)
& ": " & Chr(C) & " "
  If i Mod 10 =
0 Then Tx = Tx &
vbNewline
next
Debug.Print
Tx
Mark, my Tips: Use the MS
Enhanced Crypto Provider, Hashing and
an intelligent handling of Keys, Seed
and Salt. ZLib is ok; ensure that you
are using the DLL Version 1.1.4.0.
