By default a horrible MessageBox appears telling you that the line you were editing has incorrect syntax.
You can prevent this by entering in:
Tools > Options
...and unselect "Auto Syntax Check"
The incomplete line still turns red but the annoying box is now gone! | |

|
1/1/2001 8:11:26 PM:Bill Mosca I've been coding in VB for years and
thought that by unchecking that box the
syntax error would not show up in red
(which I like) so I left it checked
even though I hate that messagebox. Now
I don't have that gall durn box! Bless
you!
|
1/18/2001 7:38:00 AM:skizmo I'm sorry to say. . but all of you are
not that smart. .. .
rule : if you
have new software, ALWAYS check and
test the config/setup!
I found the
checkbox mentioned above in 1 minute. .
. right after the first time I got that
anoying warning !
|
3/30/2001 11:03:20 AM:JRL Thanks for posting this. So simple,
and yet such an improvement. I too
have been coding for years, and just
thought the annoying box was the price
one paid for syntax highlighting.
|
4/19/2001 9:07:01 PM:Gesox I think share information is great but
people this is in manual (RTFM)
|
6/22/2001 1:35:07 AM:Kevin and add to that if you dont eve want
the line to turn red
goto
options.....
then select the tab
editor.....
then there should be a
list....
select "Error Syntax
Text"
then set the color to the color
of your regular code color
do that
and John's thing and youll never see
anything that says an error
(note
when doing this..... you may not know
an error happened....)
this peice of
code i posted is NOT and i repeat NOT
recommended for newbies who have lots
of errors.... because then they dont
know they have an error and there app
crashes

10/15/2001 3:02:29 PM:saurabh That sure helps a lot. Never thought of
it.

|
12/7/2001 3:13:41 AM:Eoin Armstrong The tip was aimed at people who didn't
know it. If you did, well done -
here's a gold star. If, like myself,
you didn't this tip is simple, but oh
so useful. Thanks a lot!

3/20/2002 7:53:32 PM:Kurt Joseph Serge I am obviously one of the only people
that noticed this, besides a few
but:
very short paragraph has earned
25 excelents when not only did this
person barely do any work, but they
also wrote something that could be
found in the manual (RTFM). God! This
comment is probably more informative,
but do i get 25 excelent ratings. No.
REBELION!
|
3/20/2002 7:55:31 PM:Kurt Joseph Serge Hmmm i know how to get good ratings!
Maybe i could tell people how to
compile there app, so that they will
not have to always open visual basic to
use it... This also has many
possibilities..ill go make it now.
|
4/3/2002 5:08:33 AM:general good

4/7/2002 1:31:10 AM:Unruled Boy good!

|
7/28/2002 4:56:16 PM:relic thanks.
|
8/3/2002 2:05:20 AM:zenithellrazor6 this has gotten more for more votes
then the average app here and its in
the man pages if i tell you how to use
the man pages will i get a 4.5
rating...
no offense to the author or
readers but more feedback has been left
here then a app and the author didnt
have to work as long at this and the
average coders copyrights are broken he
cant copy right this
|
12/10/2002 5:58:40 PM: hahaha no more *&?%$ MessageBox will
