Description:
Hello, I have a site which i made with IE. However, now it's done, it doesn't look good at all in Netscape. I need somebody to look at the pages and convert them so it is looks pretty much the same in Netscape as it is in IE (and works the same).
The site uses php/javascript, but these don't need to be touched. There are many pages, but they all have a similar layout, so changes to first page may take a while, but then the rest should follow.
Please only bid if you are good at website compatibility issues. Somebody who can look at a page and see where i've gone wrong.
I would have done this myself, but Netscape is too slow for debugging and i am not an expert with it (i always code with respect to IE).
Thankyou

Hello,
My name is Ben Lee, and I am very familiar with browser compatibility solutions. My primary focus is website coding, and I always make websites compatible with as many browsers as possible (including Lynx, a text-only console browser).
Before bidding on your project, however, I do have a couple questions that need to be addressed.
If you could send me a copy of the website, or point me to a URL, that would answer all the questions I have, and help me better estimate the amount of work that will need to go into this project. If you don't want to do that, however, you can answer them yourself:
- Roughly how many total files (php, html, css, the whole deal) is your site composed of?
- Does your site use CSS formatting? Or is all the formatting done inline? I ask this because CSS usually makes website browser compatibility very easy, but occassionally it is the sole culprit for incompatibilities.
- Is your site table-intensive, or does it use lots of frames? Table formatting issues are very often the source of website incompatibility, and frames sometimes are.
- Does your site use any VB-script or ActiveX controls? These tend to only work well with internet explorer.
- Does your site use any java, flash, or shockwave applets? All these items need to be embedded in special ways to get them to work correctly in both internet explorer and netscape.
For an example of a website I have created that is very browser-consistent, check out this link:
http://sts.jhu.edu/index.html
It looks exactly the same in Netscape, Internet Explorer, Mozilla, and Opera. On top of that, it even looks good in the text-only browser Lynx.
Also, feel free to check out my rent-a-coder profile to see my skill set and resume.
Right now, I estimate that a bid would be in the $20-$30 range (depending on how many pages need to be updated), and I could deliver the completed results the day the project is assigned to me, or possibly the day after.
If you can answer some of the above questions for me, I will bid. I am very reasonable, and if $20-$30 is too high for the project, I will bid lower. Also, if the source of the incompatibility is very minor (like a typo that needs to be fixed in a few pages), I am willing to do the project for free.
Thank you for your time,
--Ben Lee
