Description:
I would like a program that tests the profitability of
a financial trading system. I will provide the futures market data used for the system. I will also provide the exact formula that I would like tested. The parameters involved in the testing will be: open, high, low, and close. I would like the program to be able to take the data, test the system, and give descriptive statistics such as overall profitability, profitability per trade, maximum profitable trade, maximum unprofitable trade, average annual return, etc.
I do not want to disclose here the formula of the actual system to be tested but I will give an example
of a trading system: Buy at tommorrow's opening price if today's closing is less than the closing of yesterday. Sell at tommorrow's closing price. The computer program will calculate the descriptive statistics mentioned above for this set of trading rules on futures price data for the last ten years. The main part of this project will not be programming the formula itself, but instead will be coding the descriptive statistics and coding the rollover of positions from one futures contract to another (I will explain "rollover" in more detail later for someone not familiar with the futures market.
I would like to use the program to test other trading systems in the future. Therefore the code should be well-documented and easy for another coder to modify. I am hoping to develop a relationship with a programmer who will be able to test other formulas for me in the future.
Deliverables:
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.

I have good experience in VB and done many projects in Rentacoder using VB and Excel VBA.
Can you explain you want to test the existing program or want to create a new program. If you want to create a new program then the best way is use excel and VBA which will excel's powerful fueatures and reduce time
