Description:
Help...
I need someone to cleanup approximately 600 static HTML pages so we can properly infuse style sheets and repair broken links as we phase from an ASP model content management tool into an internal system. Here are the current details. There may be other small tasks that I need done as I peruse the files before sending them out.
Most of the 600 pages are small files (resulting in 1-2 screens of information).
--Remove non-CSS complaint design tags, such as , , most table settings, etc. I will furnish an exact list of tags to remove.
--Since the older CM system worked in coldfusion, I need internal href's changed to the page ID# only instead of the full "cfm=ID#0000" URL. Leave external links alone.
--Add a title tag to all pages that matches the file name.
--Add meta tag placeholders and insert appropriate meta tags as provided by me.
--Spellcheck each file.
--Test each file to verify HTML is clean.
--Other recommendation you might have to minimize the HTML (possibly inserting some "CLASS" and "ID" tags to make our CSS job easier. <--I will pay a bonus for this work if it's good quality and helpful.
Deliverables: 1) Complete and fully-functional working source HTML files.
2) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
Platform:
HTML 4.0, CSS2, you may use any html editor you want, but I want short, clean files...not a lot verbose HTML.
Must be 100% finished and received by buyer on:

Dear jebock:
I do all of my coding by hand. I never use an editor. I feel that this makes the shortest, cleanest code possible and also increases my understanding of pure HTML.
Furthermore, since I am adept at VB, I can make small programs for myself to automate some of the things you outlined (if you say to remove tags from ALL files, it can be automated). This will produce a much quicker turnaround time.
Let me know if you're interested. If you have any questions, I usually respond within the hour.
Sincerely,
Thomas Tustin

Hey jebock,
You sure do have a lot of bids. I don't know what I can say or do to convince you that I'm the best person for the job.
I placed a minimum bid and I desperately need money. Threfore, I'm inexpensive and I will work my butt off. Please accept my bid.
Sincerely, Thomas

Hey jebock,
I was curious if I'm still in the running. You have a lot of bids. I really don't know how you'll ever be able to choose the best one. I think my low price and high level of expertise are a good fit for this project. I am extremely interested in this project. If there is anything I can to secure this position, let me know.
Sincerely, Thomas Tustin

jebock,
I didn't even use a spellchecker and I noticed a typo in the first file. Favivirus and flavivirus were both used. A quick check on Google showed that the correct term is flavivirus. Since you use a lot of medical terms, it's not always easy to know what is a typo and what isn't. I can look up the words quickly using Google to make sure the right word is in the page.
As long as you let me know which tags to remove and what to replace them with,it can be done easily. If you need me to actually supply the css2 info, it will just take a little longer to get done.
I can make a VB program that automatically replaces certain tags with new tags.
1) After the bid is accepted, I can start right away. I can probably finish in three to four days (a week or so if I need to actually write the css2 sheets). I would suggest doing about five files and sending them to you for verification. If they are good, then I could complete the rest right away.
2) You mentioned font tags, table styles, line breaks and non-breaking spaces, which covers most of the tags that can be replaces with CSS2. You couldalso replace color and background. I'm sure there are others. Here's a good reference to get some ideas of what should be replaced http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-CSS2/
3, 4) I do not have a utility to check compliance, but if everthing is automated through VB, there will not be any typos or accidents. If the first files I make turn out correct, the rest will all be the same.
Sincerely, Thomas Tustin
