Description:
BEAR (A Question Answering Program)
I would like a general purpose question answering and reporting program. All of the questions are range questions. That is, the answers fall within a range. See the example below. The program accepts four lists as input; the category of each set of questions, the questions themselves and the names of the upper and lower bounds of the answers.
Example:
Category: Fish Question: How long is an adult Sailfish?
Answer Range: 5Feet o o o (These are radio buttons.) o o 16Feet
The words Question: and Answer Range: in the example above are not to be shown in the completed program. The
The programs to be written are three. The first program creates the questionnaire for the Windows PC. The questionnaire consists of a category followed by a series of sets of range questions and the upper and lower bounds for the answer field. Once created the user has an option to print the questions. The user also will have the option to select a category from a menu of categories and then answer some or all of the questions in that category. The user may do this as many times as desired with as many categories as desired. Each category will hold a series of questions.
The second program manages answering the questions (which are separated by categories). Not all questions need to be answered, however. The user can skip questions and go forward and back at will. They can also skip categories by pressing a skip category button. However, the user must be able to go back to a skipped category, using a category menu, and answer the questions. As the questions are answered, they are stored in a file that the user had named at the beginning of the session.
The third part of the program is reporting. The purpose of the report is to compare the responses to two separate questionnaires (named files). Then, for each category, the program finds the absolute value of the diff
