Description:
checks1.htm is one of a set of files with the same format: four buttons and several rows of records with checkboxes which, when selected, are stored in one of two cookies. Any number of records from multiple files can be selected and stored in a cookie associated with the Mark For Download button; one record at a time can be selected and stored in the cookie associated with the Edit Record button. The Download Records button allows the user to retrieve all the records they have marked for download, in a new file. Records marked for download are separated by a six-character code. At the moment, the functions of the Mark For Download and Download Records buttons are combined in the Download Records button. The Clear All button is irrelevant.
Several changes are required to increase the functionality of the tool and to address existing shortcomings.
Deliverables: Changes that need to be made:
- The functions of the Mark For Download and Download Records buttons need to be separated as described above so that the cookie is persistent over multiple files. If the cookie is empty (ie. no records have been marked for download), then clicking the Download Records button should produce an alert.
- The trailing characters in the output in checks3.htm (caused by the use of the ~ character in the script) need to be removed.
- The Requested Changes To Record field in checks3.htm should show the same value as the Record To Edit field but exclude the six-character code and ID.
- The output in checks2.htm should exclude the ID.
- The six-character codes used in the output in checks2.htm need to be replaced with strings of text such as "Australia: Births" in place of AUSBIR.
- A constant string of text needs to be added to the bottom of the output in checks2.htm such as "Copyright 2001".
The input and output formats are precise and all code must work in at least NN 3.x and IE 4.x. Complete and fully-functional, working code is required.
Special Conditions / Other:
A solution meeting the specifications outlined must be delivered within seven days of the project being awarded.

So, to restate the problem to make sure I understand what you want, the user selects his records with check1.htm, downloads them with check2.htm, and can edit them one at a time with check3.htm. And the biggest changes are to remove or replace the ID codes with more meaningful text on check2.htm and check3.htm, add a constant copyright string to check2.htm, and show an alert if a user attempts to download without selecting a record. Working this out is no problem. I can get right on it. |
