Description:
If possible I need someone to build webpage counter for ebay auctions. I do not wish to steal users account info, or password info
What I would like it to do
1. display the number of page hits for the auction
2. collect stats: time of day, day of week, where they came from, where they went after, number of hits after auction closed, and any other useful info
3. This info should be stored in a database if possible for generating reports.
Also if this is possible could you keep track of this info by the auction, meaning relate the data to an auction title and auction item number?
Remember this webpage will be hosted on ebay's server all auction info (graphics, pics, and item text) are hosted on my remote server.
Deliverables: 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
Platform:
win 2000
Must be 100% finished and received by buyer on:
Feb 19, 2003 EDT

We monitor all site activity for such violations and can instantly expel transgressers on the spot, so we thank you in advance for your cooperation.
If you notice a violation please help out the site and report it. Thanks for your help.

Yes I can do this.
I assume that you have PHP and MySQL on your server.
First have a look at www.bertbear.co.uk.
The page content is very poor but I use it to try out ideas. Just notice that it has a hit counter.
(The hit counter can be invisible)
Then have a look at
http://www.tuckett.org.uk/Counters/Counter.php?do=hist&account=xyzzy123&id=bertbear
I have used ebay before.
I have never tested this counter on an ebay page but I can see no reason why it should not work.

Without a doubt the best combination for doing this type of project is Apache, PHP and My SQL as they have the exact set of functions required, are very efficient and fit together perfectly.
Use of Access is possible but I would urge you to consider My SQL instead.
Note if you need to, it is easy to transfer data between My SQL and Access. Using ODBC connections.
I am confident that I can provide most of the features you request but some will depend on experimentation.
I will take each point n turn:
1) Ebay page stats: No problem, time date etc. We can record any variable that your chosen web server/scripting =language makes available. Apache/PHP would give the greatest choice.
2) Where they came from is not a problem, but that would almost always be the Ebay search page.
3) Where they wen to. This will depend on Ebay to a large extent. I would have to experiment to see if this is possible. I will try and provide this but can not guarantee it.
4) Item number, title and status. It should be easy to parse the web page to retrieve item number, auction status etc.
5) Web based reports of stats are no problem.
I think I have a good understanding of what you want and will make best efforts to provide you with all available data fields.
The bid price is based on me writing PHP script(s) to run on your server under Apache, PHP and My SQL and is still at the bargain price of $25
