I'm trying to control an Omron Mag Card Reader/Writer connected to COM port. I have an application that reads and writes to it. I've tried portmon and several other COM port analyzers to try and determine what is being sent back and forth, but am having trouble interpreting the data. I'd like help interpreting this data and ultimately a vb control to access the Omron.

This sounds like an interesting little project.
Over the years I have had to interpret various serial protocols on industrial equipment.
Looks like the ART logs have captured all you need to know.
If you need a better way of capturing the serial data, I do have a sneaky technique that may prove useful.
I am sure I can help you interpret the data, but to start with I need some more information.
I need to know what information you expect to be read/written from/to the card.
i.e. Name, member number, address, membership type….
The more clues the better.
What I need is for you to create 3 different membership cards with widely differing member details and to read those cards back in again. Then if you could provide me with both the details and the recorded data I will do my best to interpret the data.
I do need a variety of data to be a able to work out the encoding in use and the check sum characters.
I am bidding to offer advice and assistance to interpret the serial data and advice and assistance to get an OCX control working.
For this bid, I assume you are not asking me to write the control. (Although I could do this if required)
