Description:
I am a member of a secure website from which I need data extracted into an Excel Spreadsheet. I have included a file with a project.html that gives the specifics. I need an installable program to put on my desktop that will run everyday to perform the neccessary tasks to update the Excel Spreadsheet so I can update the database for the website I am getting built.
The concept of this project is simple but the execution may not be. Create a program in VB, .NET or C++ that can extract data from Internet Explorer on Windows XP and take data from the webpage and automatically enter it in an Excel Spreadsheet. In the process, data from the Excel Spreadsheet will be needed to be automatically entered into text boxes on the webpage.
Use the example spreadsheet I included in the zip file as a reference.I need the nembers from the item column to be entered into the webpage and then take the "White Price" from the web page and enter it into the Wholsale $ cell on the spreadsheet, take the "Instock" from the webpage and put it in the "Instock" cell on the spreadsheet. If there is a "Yes" in the Discontinued cell on the webpage then delete the row on the spreadsheet.
I also have another folder in the zip file (product pictures) that has more functions that I need the software to perform. I will try to be as helpful as possible but I am here because I don't know how to do it...I just have visions and ideas.
I need very proficient coders to work on this project as it is very important that the program works correctly and accurately. There can be NO ROOM for error when it comes to setting my profit margins and showing an item is available for purchase.
My vision for this project is that when I enter in the program that it will ask me for my user number and password. This information will be entered into the webpage login. I want it this way so the password is not hardcoded and I can change my password in the future.
Please don't message me giving me the difference between C++ and VB. I personally don't care the language it is in as long as it works on my computer and performs the tasks I require :-)
Deliverables: 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
Platform:
Windows XP and Internet Explorer 6.0
Installable C++ or VB or .NET

Hello,
I would offer a VB 6.0 solution. Since accuracy is critically important, I would recommend that each object on a web page that needs to either be clicked or filled in have an ID associated with that object for reference in the code. That way we can be sure we are referencing the right object, even if there are some minor changes in the web page. I would reference the rows and columns in the spreadsheet by row, column locations.
Thank you for your consideration,
Sandra Sears
