Description:
I need a simple VB6 application that randomly
generates sentences based on pre-determined
formulas. Here's how I prefer it to work:

A) When run, a dialog box opens which contains:
1. a textbox
2. a "NEXT SENTENCE" button
3. a "SAVE THIS ONE" button
4. a "VIEW SAVED ITEMS" button

B) When the user clicks "NEXT SENTENCE"...

The app opens a data file (eg, formulas.dat)
that contains a list of "formulas" for creating
sentences. It randomly selects a formula from
a list.

A sample formula might be...

"001 that 002 can use to 003."

In this example, the app opens 3 files:
001.dat, 002.dat and 003.dat. (Because those
were the 3 files mentioned in the formula.)

All of these files will contain a long list
of words or phrases. (I will add these
myself.)

The app will randomly choose one word (or
phrase) from each file. So if the app
selects the phrase "A method" from 001.dat
and selects "writers" from 002.dat and selects
"get published" from 003.dat, the output
in the textbox will be...

"A method that writers can use to get published."

C) When the user clicks "SAVE THIS ONE", it
writes the full idea (in this case, "A
method that writers can use to get published.")
into a "saved sentences" file. The user can select
the name of the file, but as a default,
let's name the file according to a data
protocol, like saved-01-26-03.dat or something
like that.

D) When the user clicks "VIEW SAVED ITEMS",
it gives the user the option of picking the
idea file they wish to open, and once they
select the one they want to open, it displays
the contents in a simple notepad-like textbox.

E) Inside that environment, they can manually
add or delete any ideas in the file and save
it.

This should be a very simple application to build,
but I'm a PERL man myself... w/o VB skills!

Thanks for looking!

Dear BlueGrass,

Take my regards. I've analyzed your project and came to make a demo program that may suite your need. I've done so far I understood. But there is a general problem to work with the formula system you provide.

It will not be possible for a program to recognise a filename like 001 as it may be a filename or may be a part of the sentence. So, I changed the system like this one:

[001] that [002] can use to [003].

If you have the got the idea, then its fine. But if you don't like it and can assure that these will be only filenames then I can work with the previous idea as well.

Please check out the files I've included with the EXE to get a clear idea.

My demo program is done for you to have a idea only. If you don't like the interface, I can change it to some other kind. And my demo may contain some error as I haven't thoroughly checked it. But there should not be any!

That's all. Looking to hear from you. Thanks..

Yours Sincerely
Md Emran Hasan
