Description:
I am trying to use an Access Database to write data to from a FoxPro database - both on different drives on a LAN. This really has nothing to do with the FoxPro side - that just happens to be where this data is coming from. What I need to accomplish is for multiple stations to be able to access and write to a Access Database at the same time without getting locking errors. The code I am using will do that for small amounts of records but the attached code is running a batch from FoxPro that contains 45,000 + records and all need to be placed in the Access File. Every time I try to do this across the LAN I get a locking error and the program crashes. Usually happens about 200 - 400 records into the program. I need someone to give me an example of how to code this so that I have a dependable connection that will add the records to the Access Database but maintain open so that other stations can maintain connection to the file adding records as well. I have placed the code in a word document for you to review.
Deliverables: 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of example of how to have multiple stations access and write to an Access Database at the same time with one station running the attached code with 45,000 + records.
Platform:
VB 6.0, windows 98, Access 2000

Hello Mr. Dan,
Coincidently The same problem we faced for another database(informix) when the live database started exceeding records to 50k.
The apporach you have taken is not the correct one. It increases the time multifolds, also concurrency is not observed.
Also there seems to be some strange approach for displaying the number of records updated. There is no need to add -Do Events and that wait (your own function maybe- code.
Just accpet the bid and rest assured. We will have your problem sorted within half an hour once we know of the bid accpetance.
regards
