Description:
Overview
We are seeking a custom network asset management / inventory program for our network. This initial spec is limited in scope and is considered Phase I. The successful developer will have the opportunity to continue development through the 8 Phases we currently envision.
The program is to be developed in C++. It is to be a client/server application, and will use an Access 2002 database for storage needs.
The client will run silently and on a low priority thread at startup on all OSes (win98 - winXP). It will inventory all hardware and software on the system and then transmit to the server component. The information should be compressed before sending to preserve network bandwidth on a WAN.
The server component will accept all client transmissions and add /update sent information to the database. It will contain several reporting and alert functions (see below) and will run on a W2K server. The reports should be in HTML format, and auto-published daily.
Feature List
• Report (Hardware) - will list the following by machine name:
o CPU Speed
o Hard Drive(s) Size
o Hard Drive Space Utilized %
o Installed RAM (MB)
• Report (Software) - will list the following by machine name:
o All installed software, sorted alphanumerically - will report software title, executable filename and path.
o Operating System
• Report (Network) - will list the following by machine name:
o IP address
o Subnet
o Mapped drives
o Login username
• Report Consolidated- will show graphs indicating:
o % of machines by different levels of RAM
o % of machines by OS
o % of machines by CPU speeds
• Auto-install will check each login and determine if install / upgrade is needed.
• Server will use an Access 2002 database
• Client should be invisible to user and difficult to uninstall.
• Change Alerts - the server should send a detailed email to the network administrator if
o New software is installed on any client
o Software is uninstalled on any client
o RAM increases/decreases on any client
o Operating System changes on any client
o Login user changes on any client
o New machine is added to database
Deliverables:
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.

Deadline legal notes: All times are expressed in the time zone of the site EDT (UT - 5). If the buyer omitted a time, then the deadline is 11:59:59 PM EDT on the indicated date.
