Description:
Write your own version of the Unix tool wc, called mywc. Your program should perform almost as wc does. Read the man page for details of what it is supposed to do, what options there are, and how it handles command line arguments, and try it out. The minimum options you need to handle are -c -l -w. If no option is given in the command line, default it to -lwc. One or more file names can be specified on the command line. If no file is specified, the standard input will be used. Use Unix redirection from a file to test this ($mywc < filename). The file names can use wildcards, such as *, ? and [a-z] etc. The output of your program should be the same as the output from the Unix wc. Use make to build your program. Submit a makefile called mywcmake.txt along with any source files. (Do not use system calls to wc !!)

Write a suitable makefile for your assignment 4 (call it A4make.txt) to build and maintain the outputs called PartA and PartB. You can assume that the makefile is located in the same directory as your program files.

Write a shell script called psfilter.sh to perform the tasks that psfilter.cpp was required to do in assignment 2. You only need to do the first half of PartA, i.e., determine the process that has the longest elapsed CPU time and the program that is the deepest in the file tree. List both the login name and the program name for these two processes.

Create a tar file called A5.tar and add all source files needed to make the program in Part A above including the makefile mywcmake.txt, plus A4make.txt from Part B, and the script psfilter.sh from Part C. Use Unix command gzip to compress the file A5.tar. Check the "tarred and compressed" file before submit. Copy it to an empty directory in your file space. Decompress the copy; extract all the files; check the files.
