Description:
Need a Visual Basic Programmer to check and fix code. Must be familiar with IRC Clients and Servers. I have a small game that uses IRC. The client attaches to an IRC Server and the chatting ensues. The client has some funky issues though. It works perfect with some networks (dalnet and some others). It kind of works with others displaying only the first two characters of your name( Efnet and others) and some the client connects to and show up, but it never actually joins the channels. I have the source code for multiple VB IRC servers and they fall into the last category. The connection and the client show up as connected, but never join the actual room. I need to figure out why and fix it. I assume its just some simple formatting thing between the server and the client. I don't want the client changed, just the server to fit the clients format. You will be given the server source code and bits of the client code to analyze and figure out why it's not working. You will fix the server app so it works with the client and return it to me. You will also adjust the nickname time so there is no limit to how many times a user can change their nick. You will write a small report on what the deal is with the connections and format that cause this. I assume that anyone who has familiarity with VB and IRC could just look at this thing and figure it out in a few minutes, so it shouldn't be a big deal.
Deliverables:
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
