PDF file manipulation - string substitution
Bid Request Id: 33438

Description:
I want a small CGI app. created that will allow an existing PDF file to be modified via string substitution similar to what can be achieved with normal *NIX string substitution.
eg. s/'dog/cat/g'
So whereever the string 'dog' appears in my PDF file it will be replaced with the string 'cat'.
Both 'dog' and 'cat' would be taken as input parameters (along with the PDF file itself of course).
I would prefer the app to be written in Perl - a quick search at CPAN indicates the following modules might do the job:
PDF PDF::Core PDF::API2
An alternative would be to use PHP although I'm not familiar with any PHP classes that allow you to do this.
Deliverables: 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Installation package that will install the software (in ready-to-run condition) on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) Complete ownership and distribution copyrights to all work purchased.
Platform:
"Linux"
Must be 100% finished and received by buyer on:
Nov 30, 2002 EDT
Deadline legal notes: All times are expressed in the time zone of the site EDT (UT - 5). If the buyer omitted a time, then the deadline is 11:59:59 PM EDT on the indicated date.
Remember that contacting the other party outside of the site (by email, phone, etc.) on all business projects < $500 (before the buyer's money is escrowed) is a violation of both the software buyer and seller agreements.
We monitor all site activity for such violations and can instantly expel transgressers on the spot, so we thank you in advance for your cooperation.
If you notice a violation please help out the site and report it. Thanks for your help.

Hello Adam.
The application you require can be written without any problem at all to fully match your specifications. It will be programmed using PHP with the PDF extensions. I have extensive experience with both PHP and Linux. Please see my resume for details regarding my background.
There are two available PHP extensions that allow PDF file manipulation: one is CPDFlib, and the other one is PDFlib. Both are available for free and can be installed as PHP extensions on your server. Installation assistance can be provided, if required, at no extra cost for you.
The PHP application shall be very simple to use and my code will be well commented, so it will be easy to follow and understand.
Looking forward to your comments, Catalin IONESCU Technical Vision Software Ltd.
