Description:
Using VB, I need three textboxs. One textbox1 has a max width determined by the value in textbox2Value. The third textbox3 max width is determined by it's current textwidth not being larger than the textwidth of textbox1. The problem I am having is that the third textbox3 can have a thicker or thiner font than the other textbox1. So if the textbox2Value has a number 15 in it, then Textbox1 (arial font) can hold up to 15 characters. Now if you start typing into textbox3 (arial black), the textbox3 input should refuse any text after it's pixel width of text matches the width of textbox1's max length. (not of text but of possible length. The ides is for a form utility that has a textbox with english text in it and the other textbox will get text typed in in French or german or russian and I have to limit the text that can be entered because the languaged text may not fit in the controll it is meant to translate. I just need the basic code to limit the input of text in this senerio. Thanks

I just finished coding what I believe you are looking for. I have three text boxes. In text2 you can place a number that represents the maxlength of text1. Text3, I set to a larger font and started typing. When it hits the end of the text box, whether it is 26 characters or 2 characters, when it hits the end of the text box, it will beep and not allow anymore typing. Is this correct? If so, accept my bid and I'll send you the code. |
