Description:
I want to programmatically launch an instance of MSIE (6+), navigate to a site, logon using my password and ID, navigate to the search pages do 2 sets of searches and capture the results to 2 text files.
Of course it isn't quite so simple as in one group of searches I'll be limited to just the first 200 found records, so if the found count exceeds 200 (there is a count function on the page that will return the number of found records when activated) I'll have to narrow the parameters and count until the found count is <200, and then work my way up to get all the pertinent records. The narrowing will be accomplished by restricting the date. Example if a search of transactions were from 1/1/2002 through 6/1/2002 and returned 759 hits, then I&'d need to search from 1/1/2002 through 2/1/2002, check the count of the found set, if <200 execute the search and capture the records to a text file, ELSE further restrict the date until there were less than 200 in the found set, and then move from the end of the last search through 3/1/2002, check the count etc. I'll need variables for startdate and enddate, territory, and statuses, saletype. The searches will be by territory, status, date. All the sales in one Territory of one Status from Start_Date through End_Date, then the next Territory, until all Territories are completed, then reset Territory to the beginning and change status and recheck all Territories with the next status. There are 4 statuses and about 35 Territories. However once the program logic is solid a loop through the Territories and a loop through the statuses should be easy.
I&'ll send the source code to the necessary pages upon request.
As it is my goal to learn a computer language as I go on this project I'm open to doing this project in VB C++, VB. I have Visual Studio 6 and am running Win 98SE.
